It Was Not Consumed

The first time Moses speaks to God, the encounter is described as talking to a blazing fire out of a bush. But when he looked, Moses noticed that the bush was aflame, yet it was not consumed (Exodus 3:2).
This verse offers us profound insight: the Divine is not some distant figure in the sky, but as close to us as fire—mysterious, yet warm and comforting. It encourages us to be like Moses and honor holiness in even the most ordinary places.
I’m struck by how our community mirrors the "fire that does not consume" concept. Through the technology of electricity traveling across fiber optic cables and satellites, we connect across geography, creating sacred space for one another. And it doesn't consume us-- rather it gives us new life and spiritual wellness. How? Despite the physical distances, we meet isolation with warmth, holding each other in shared traditions, sacred times, and values. We find holiness in our relationships, and the ways we interpret the holy texts of our tradition. We infuse sacredness in our actions, and in the collective pursuit of communal growth.
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and we at Keeping It Sacred invite you to join us in preserving these sacred spaces where spiritual wellness continues to be felt. We ask you to help nurture this very special community where people can experience holiness—places that are vital to personal and collective transformation. Through your generosity, we can continue our mission of nurturing curiosity, deepening faith, and inspiring action.
Together, we can bring more light, more justice, more love, and more joy into the world. Please donate today at keepingitsacred.com/our-future, and help us keep it sacred.
This is how we’re keeping it sacred.
Together we’re #keepingitsacred…
