Today is the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Av— the Jewish holiday celebrating love in all its forms: love of self, romantic love, love of community, love of the Creator.
Our beloved Keeping It Sacred member, Solo Moon, took us through a teaching yesterday that explored variations of sharing love in the world— through chesed/kindness, ahavah/love of connection, and rachamim/compassion. They asked us, how do we express communal love/ communal ahavah? Our members answered that we express this love when we hold sacred space for one another, where we encourage inclusiveness, when we accept differences (religions, races, cultures, nations), when we sign petitions for human rights, protect the environment, when we stand up for one another, and when we do tikkun olam and try to make the world a better place.
These answers came from fourteen of our Keeping It Sacred members who participated in our confirmation ceremony. These members of the KITS community confirmed their love for Jewish life and that they value involvement in the KITS community. And we are certainly blessed by their leadership. And look at how bright these smiles are! (Photo of some of our participants). They are filled with the light and love of Torah. They hold our best values at heart.
So on this day of love, please take a moment to celebrate love in all of its forms, and know that this community is one that loves YOU very much!
This is how we’re keeping it sacred.
Together we’re #keepingitsacred...
